Mohan Sawant Appointed BJP Cooperative Front Vice President for Mumbai Region

Mumbai: Veteran social worker and cooperative sector leader Mohan Sawant has been appointed Vice President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Cooperative Front, Mumbai Region. The appointment was announced by Mumbai BJP Cooperative Front President Sunil Bambulkar during the organization’s meeting held in Dadar, Mumbai.

The BJP Cooperative Front operates across Maharashtra under the leadership of MLA Pravin Darekar, Chairman of the Mumbai District Central Cooperative Bank. In Mumbai, the front has been actively working to strengthen the cooperative movement under the guidance of President Sunil Bambulkar.

During the meeting, Sawant’s appointment as Mumbai Region Vice President was formally announced in the presence of several party office-bearers, including BJP Cooperative Front Vice Presidents Santosh Darekar and Ravindra Jaiswal, Mumbai Secretary Shilpa Gurav, District Presidents Amol Kharat, Ratish Satam, Sachin Hanvate, Anand Deulkar, and other office-bearers and party workers. Sawant’s associates, including Michael Pereira, Sudhir Hadkar, Kumbhar, Louis Wilfred Pinto, Kisan Sawant, Nitin Joshi, and Chaitanya Hadkar, were also present.

Introducing the newly appointed vice president, Mumbai BJP Cooperative Front General Secretary Sudhakar Kadam highlighted Sawant’s extensive administrative and cooperative sector experience.

Speaking after accepting the appointment, Sawant expressed gratitude to the party leadership.

“I will work with dedication and efficiency in the cooperative sector under the leadership of BJP Cooperative Front State Convener and Mumbai District Central Cooperative Bank Chairman MLA Pravin Darekar, and under the guidance of Mumbai President Sunil Bambulkar and General Secretary Sudhakar Kadam. I am grateful to the party leadership for giving me this opportunity and for placing their trust in me. I will strive to justify that confidence through my work,” he said.

Sawant is a retired Maharashtra Government official with extensive experience in public administration. During his government service, he held various positions in the Public Health Department, the State Election Commission, the Mantralaya (State Secretariat), the Maharashtra State Commission for Women, and the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA).

Beyond his government service, Sawant has been actively associated with several cooperative societies and social service organizations. He serves as President of the Star Vrutta Charitable Trust and General Secretary of the Rehabilitation and Research Centre for Women, a charitable organization dedicated to women’s rehabilitation and research. He also serves as Associate Editor of the web new portal Star Vrutta.

Apart from his administrative and social contributions, Sawant is an accomplished sportsman, having represented himself as an excellent Kabaddi player and a Black Belt Karate Champion. He is widely known for his extensive network and longstanding public engagement across Maharashtra.

Following his appointment as Vice President of the BJP Cooperative Front, Mumbai Region, Sawant has received congratulatory messages from political leaders, colleagues, and well-wishers from various sectors.
